Objective
To be the best student society on campus, bridging the gap between theory and practice in the world of business.
ComSoc
The Sydney University Commerce Society (ComSoc) is one of the university's leading and biggest student societies. Since establishment in 2002, the objective of ComSoc has been to help bridge the gap between students and employers.
ComSoc meets the needs of both members and sponsors, across careers, sporting and social platforms. To achieve this, we have adopted a two division structure – Black Label ComSoc and Campus ComSoc. Both sides of the society act to connect students and sponsors.
Structure
Our team structure is based around three key principles – accountability, efficiency and teamwork. Critical to this is the flat structure of the various portfolios that reward efficiency and teamwork, yet promotes executive accountability. The purpose of this innovative structure is to ensure we deliver on our promises to sponsors. At the commencement of each year, a first year representative is also appointed to the executive. This allows us to reach out to and involve the newest members of our society. Our structure is dynamic and flat, and differentiates us from other societies on campus. All members have the authority and ability to contribute to the development of the society.
Social
ComSoc believes that an active social life is crucial to the development of a well-rounded student. We also know employers look for graduates who have passions outside of their business aspirations, be it sport, music, or artistic hobbies. Behind the firm, behind the desks, behind the computers and the contracts, we are all unique individuals. Therefore, at ComSoc, we place importance on our social events which allow students to meet and have an awesome time. These include our renowned First Year Camp, start and end of semester parties, cruises, BBQs as well as the glamorous Annual ComSoc Ball.
